Title
Greeley Dramatic Club performs "Lady Windermere's Fan" (1920)
Subject
Oscar Wilde
Description
An advertisement for a performance of Lady Windermere's Fan in 1920 by the Dramatic Club of Colorado State Teacher's College in Greeley, Colorado. Wilde's conviction for "gross indecency" in 1895 was by then long known, suggesting the choice to perform the convicted sodomite's work was made, at the very least, despite his conviction. It also suggests the ongoing value and popularity of Wilde's work, even in the face of "bad" headlines.
